WELCOME TO MONTROSE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH!
The Methodist church in Montrose dates back to 1858, when at least 10 families decided to join together and help each other live the Christian life. This group of settlers was called the Virginia settlement, Then the Fountain Lake Settlement and finally the Montrose Methodist Church, first services were held in Ezra Stacy's log Cabin.
In 1881 a frame church was built on Buffalo St. In the fall of 1952 a meeting was called by Rev. A L Olney to make a decision of building a new church. On Sept. 13 1953 the cornerstone was laid and the new church was ready for worship Feb. 7, 1954
We would like to join us for worship or just for fellowship, we are a welcoming church and everyone is welcome here. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
We share faith in Christ through worship, fellowship and education as we strive to live God's love by being accepting and forgiving, with our hearts, our minds and our doors open to all.
United Methodist denominational Mission Statement
Make disciples of Jesus Christ for transformation of the world.
Our Montrose United Methodist vision( our rally cry) is: food: which includes nourishment for the body, mind, and spirit.
Feeding; this includes feeding the hungry for food, fellowship, purpose, values that grow compassion, generosity, hope and loving relationships.
Hospitality; which includes inviting all to the assurance of belonging, identity in the fellowship of Jesus Christ, and strengthening our talents and spiritual gifts to pass on blessings and God's justice.
Community: To model a community that puts God first, forgives, includes, serves, and believes in each person as a precious sanctuary of God's Holy Spirit.
